HANDSHAKE / ONBOARDING

a warm welcome

The first few moments of a user’s experience with an app can be the hardest to get right. It’s high-stakes and fleeting. That makes onboarding a great candidate to continually test and iterate on.

From previous testing, we learned that when onboarding fields are broken up on multiple screens, more people get all the way through it. That still makes the process kinda long, so we lean on a friendly voice to keep things breezy—an impression of being quick while collecting crucial information that we need to customize their experience as soon as they get into the app.

I wanted this interaction to feel like a back-and-forth conversation between real humans, so headlines are questions, sequential and have filler words that make it feel like someone is actually talking to you.
